Labeyle submits a stone design for Westminster Bridge

Labeyle is asked to proceed with the construction of the foundations

1740

Work begins on the stone design of Labeyle's.

1747

Arches are complete, but one pier settles too much. Re-construction of the adjoining arches.

Official opening.

Notes

The original Westminster Bridge was built of Portland Stone, supplied from the quarries on the Island of the same name, in Dorset.
