Abstrakt:

Construction of Sports Infrastructure requires study of functional requirement along with the architectural design criteria and aesthetics of the structure, keeping in view the games requirement, logistic issues and facilities to be provided to the spectator and sports personnel. Structural designers have to respond to the challenge set by the architect. Proper structural scheme can enhance the elegant look of the structure without sacrificing the economy.

Case study for three indoor stadia will be presented in light of achieving the requirements listed above, two of them in the Northeast region of India where temperature are moderate but seismic effects are demanding and the third one in Delhi where temperature variations are large and demands for meeting the completion schedule was paramount. The roof spans vary from 60 m to 145m.
